Havamal Quote Stickers, Shirts, Tote Bags

This weekend at PantheaCon I donated a bunch of my Sigdrifa’s Prayer and Rainbow People stickers to the Pagans of Color suite to give as thank-you gifts for people who donated to their cause. I really liked how they came out, and people seemed to really enjoy them, so I’ve added a new design to the store for stickers, t-shirts, and tote bags, which should appear shortly:

Havamal 76-77, original language, Younger Futhark runes

Havamal 76-77, original language, Younger Futhark runes

This original design is inspired by the rune stones I saw in my visit to Uppsala Sweden in 2005.

Me posing in front of a runestone in Uppsala, near the modern Kirka and the University.

The words are from the Havamal, popular stanzas 76 & 77

Deyr fé,  deyja frændr,
deyr sjalfr it sama,
en orðstírr  deyr aldregi
hveim er sér góðan getr.

Deyr fé,  deyja frændr,
deyr sjalfr it sama,
ek veit einn  at aldrei deyr:
dómr um dauðan hvern.

The language is the original Old Norse, transliterated into the historically-appropriate Younger Futhark runes. In modern English they say, (roughly):

“Cattle die,  kinfolk die,
Yourself will die the same;
But a noble name  will never die,
If good reputation one gets

Cattle die,  kinfolk die,
Yourself will die the same;
One thing I know  that never dies,
The story of a dead man’s deeds.”

I have ideas for several more Heathen designs in the works.

Enjoy!

      Yeah. sure, go for it! Just, can I please have pics? To post here about it maybe? If you’re up for it you could even write a guest blog about your experience or something…
