My Month of Written Devotion is for the Spirit of the Santa Clara Valley
Dark
It’s hard to write of the dark of the year right now. It’s too soon after Midsommer.
Recently, Freyr has requested that I spend my Winters in male mode, for a variety of reasons that are difficult to explain. That can have the side effect of keeping me in the mode that is my Lady’s lover more often, which is a benefit to our relationship, though not Freyr’s goal.
I wanted to wax poetic about it. I wrote several verses that said nothing much, and started over, and then just gave up.
It’s not Dark now. Ask me again in November.

P.S. Read Lon’s “Dark”! 😀

About EmberVoices
Ember Cooke has been a member of Hrafnar and Seidhjallr for more than a decade, where she trained to be a Seidhkona, Galdrakona, and Gythia. She founded the Vanic Conspiracy and made ordination vows to the Vanir and her congregation in the summer of 2013. She has contributed to several publications on Heathen and Northern Pagan subjects and regularly presents rituals and workshops at festivals.
Her personal practice is more diverse, as the Vanir have lead her into cross-training and service for the wider Pagan community. This has including medium and servitor training in American Umbanda, clergy training with the Fellowship of the Spiral Path, and jail ministry for local counties. She holds a BA with honors in Religious Studies from Santa Clara University.
Ember has lived all her life in the south San Francisco Bay Area, and is intimately bound to the valley of her birth.
I guess i’ll ask in November what being in a “male mode” means.

Uh, that’s not the bit that needs to wait, but I’m still not sure how to answer you if “male mode” doesn’t seem self-evident.
Have you read my gender post? https://embervoices.wordpress.com/2015/04/16/beyond-binary/
If that doesn’t clarify much I’m not sure what I’ll say next, but I suppose I’ll give it a shot.
