A CALL: Channel Anger, Banish Fear and Hate

I have received an urgent message this afternoon, confirmed through another reader. It was from The Morrigan and Brighid for all who are able and willing, anywhere in the world. While the whole message has not yet been made clear, this much has (paraphrased, from memory):

“There are dangerous amounts of anger and hate running through the people across the lands. Channel them down and let them burn away. You do not have to channel the whole world, or all of it, just for your area, for what you are able. Spread the word as you can. Any hands that are available for this are needed now.”

There is no set time or day to do this. Whenever you are ready and able is fine. If you have some other method, that is fine too. This is my proposed method:

Simple Candle Spell

My version of the Morrigan’s spell to channel anger and banish hate.

  • Get one red jar candle, one white jar candle, and a glass of cool, clear local water.
  • The red candle is for gathering all the hatred and anger and fear, and transforming it into fuel to burn away.
  • The white candle is to provide illumination, so that all can see as clearly as possible what is really going on around them, that they see better than to hate, that they see better than to fear, that their anger be prompted only by injustice and suffering, not mere discomfort, confusion, shame, or spite.
  • The glass of water is to connect the spell to the local water table, and to allow cooler heads to prevail. All within the watershed are in range of the spell. [Edit: This should be fresh water! Tap water, rain collected locally, or water from a well, river, stream, lake, or reservoir are all fine. If you use salty lake, sea, or ocean water, then also use some fresh water, to be sure!]
  • When the candles have burned out, pour the glass of water out, preferably where it will feed an old tree or something.

Please understand, there is much to be angry about in the world. There always is, there always will be, and right now there is quite a bit. The Morrigan would never suggest otherwise, I’m sure. But if we do not exhibit self-control, we have the power to burn the whole world down, and certainly sufficient power to burn ourselves. This does no one any good. It solves no problems, and creates many more.

So if you can, if you hear this call, and are willing, do what you can to channel the anger, the hate, the fear in your area. Channel it into a bright light to shine across the area. Let people see truly what is before them.

And if you are willing, please share this – share the link, repost/reblog it, copy the text entirely, or even make your own version. The work is what matters.

Just starting out on my new journey. I have not done anything but read up to now. Are there words to use or just our clear mind and energy? I would like to do this as my first attempt.

I generally use words to aid in narrowing of focus, but there aren’t specific words, as part of the point here is to do whatever works best for the practitioner.

As you’ve said you’re a beginner, if you need help sorting out a more detailed approach to this spell, feel free to email me. I can create more specific instructions if it would help. I left it relatively open so that folks could use what works for them, but I realize that if you’re new, you don’t already know what works for you.

I wanted to share this idea with you all. I’ll do this if/when I’m able to (things are a bit difficult at home right now). I’ve never done a spell before though, so I’m not sure how it will turn out. What are your thoughts?

This is not the kind of spell where you’re going to have a clear sense of how it turns out. It’s a good work, certainly, but not necessarily helpful in the area of developing spellwork skills as a beginner.

In general, when doing candle spells, if the candle burns clean to the bottom, it’s a good sign. If a jar candle drowns before burning down, something stopped it. If you get a lot of melting on a free-standing candle, that’s not necessarily bad. The rest is nuance.

This. This needs doing. Whether your candles are tealights, chime candles, pillar, taper, or jar candles. Whether you light them as a spell, a symbol, or a prayer. Whether your water is from the tap or directly from your local reservoir, tributary, or major river.

I’ve bought seven-day jar candles as my tap water comes from the Thames.
Kizzy’s planning to get her local Spiritual church involved and use bonfires and water from the English Channel.

It doesn’t matter if you’re using tealights and water from the tiny stream at the end of the garden – please, just get those candles lit.

Oh my gods, I think I might cry. I never imagined anyone would get it going with a whole church using bonefires and water from the English Channel! -E-

Um, I don’t know if the English Channel ritual has been tried, but would you relay to them to *also* include at least a glass of local *fresh* water? That, apparently, was a key element… salt water doesn’t define the water table the same way, it seems.

I’ll edit the post to reflect that.

      • Kizzy hasn’t organised it yet due to a stinking cold and work commitments, but I’ll pass the message on. Her thinking was that water from the Channel would connect to all the rivers that flowed into it and all the watersheds that fed those rivers – hence the need for bonfires and a congregation of people as that’s a lot of channeling for just one person to try.

I understand. I gather the reason They are so insistent on fresh water is both because there’s a water-we-can-drink aspect, and because changing from fresh water to salt water changes *domains* (i.e. which gods are involved).

But it’s more of an AND than an OR. So perhaps the folks participating can each bring a bit of tap water from home? I dunno. Anything is worth a shot, but it may be that using sea water will require getting additional gods on board. I doubt They’ll *mind*, given the cause.

I think I’ll adapt this for the fire pit; and use water from the river.

A note: I did this once already and the amount of anger trying to channel through the red candle drowned the candle. From this I come to understand that I need a stronger wick or a larger flame, or else to channel from a smaller area.

That’s why many are needed for this: Channel what your own candle can handle. If you can handle channeling more, light more candles. If you can get a whole group together, hey, have a bonfire somewhere. Just remember: Ritual safety includes fire safety!
