EmberVoices
My name is Ember Cooke. I serve the Vanir - Freyja, Freyr, and Their kin - as a priestess, minister, teacher, bard, artist, medium, and witch. Or to put it the Heathen way, as a gythia, galdrakona, and seidhkona.
My personal practice is more diverse, as the Vanir have lead me into cross-training, interfaith work, and counseling for the wider Pagan community as needed. My friends and allies may span the world, but it is the Vanir I love as family. -E-

New Song! Seeking Odr
The other day while driving home, a new song for Freyja dropped into my head. When I got home, I holed up with my tablet to work out the verses, and a few hours later I had the whole thing … Continue reading

This is my friend and sometimes-teacher Nan Edwards Boyster. Nan is, simply put, Good People. She’s also one of the small handful of readers I go to when I need outside divination, confirmation or clarification on my own work, or … Continue reading

Forming the Tree
This is another of those very rough pseudo-verse poems that was dropped on my head a while back. The talk of how the wells and wyrd and memory intertwine with life and death seemed relevant to it, so I have … Continue reading

Many Gods West – Friday
It’s very hard for me to separate Many Gods West itself from everything that lead up to it and has come out of it, much less the rest of our trip to Washington. For the sake of brevity and relevance, … Continue reading

Reblog: Deep thoughts: Gifting and golddigging
Originally posted on Silver and Gold:
I had two deep thoughts today. First, Freya gives to herself (and we do, too) Odin sacrifices “himself to himself” for knowledge of the runes and whatnot; but Freya — Freya is a giver.…

Ways Between the Worlds
Well, the unanimous response is that Gnosis is good to share, so here’s an un-formed poem I received/wrote some time ago. I still need to convert it into a Skaldic meter. It will eventually go into the Vanic Edda I’m … Continue reading

PantheaCon 2015 Brief Debrief
Overall, this was a very good year at PantheaCon. My own con went very well indeed. I will acknowledge up front that there were a few events that were extremely upsetting and disruptive to many people I care about, but … Continue reading

When Godphones Ring – Discernment for Pagans
One of the things I get asked a great deal by people both in person, and online, is how to know when to trust the voices in their heads. This is an essential question in every mystical tradition, and the … Continue reading

Initiation is a transformation of your soul. Yeah, that’s on purpose, but in practice what it means is that your way of moving through the world becomes something unfamiliar. The more intensive the initiation, the more intensive your mystical practice, … Continue reading
