EmberVoices
My name is Ember Cooke. I serve the Vanir - Freyja, Freyr, and Their kin - as a priestess, minister, teacher, bard, artist, medium, and witch. Or to put it the Heathen way, as a gythia, galdrakona, and seidhkona.
My personal practice is more diverse, as the Vanir have lead me into cross-training, interfaith work, and counseling for the wider Pagan community as needed. My friends and allies may span the world, but it is the Vanir I love as family. -E-

Too Much Is Never Enough
CW: Misogyny, Assault, Sexual Assault, Mild Gender Binarism This video is powerful and important for anyone raised female (though it’s primarily appealing to cis-women, and has a few binaristic “huh?” bits in the end, due to it being primarily a … Continue reading

New Song! Seeking Odr

Rev. Gina Pond and Sarah Thompson #ShowMeGoddess
Beautiful new pictures of Rev. Gina Pond as an alternative depiction of a Goddess (which one? We’re not sure yet!) taken by her wife Sarah Thompson: If this isn’t right up the #ShowMeFreyja alley, I don’t know what is! –Ember–

Reblog: Art, Beauty, and Permission
My friend and colleague Rev. Gina Pond posted this wonderful essay about the nature of art and beauty, and how our society jealously guards the boundaries of these concepts, to the detriment of pretty much everyone, but especially artists. As … Continue reading

Beauty Beyond Size #ShowMeFreyja
Well this #BeyondBeauty campaign seems pretty compatible with my own goals: http://www.wearyourvoicemag.com/beyondbeauty/ (Sorry I’m not sure how to embed the site so the images show here if it’s not a video…) If you are a visual artist of some kind, … Continue reading

Beauty Beyond Gender #ShowMeFreyja
Lon came across this beautiful photograph taken by Shilo McCabe of genderqueer porn performer Jiz Lee draped in a feathered cloak: It reminded me very much of this image of Freyja by Maris Pai, which is one of my favorite portraits … Continue reading

Beauty Beyond the Pale #ShowMeFreyja
A while back someone lamented (in a blog I can’t find again – argh!) that while European artists have happily depicted any and every god of the world as European people over the centuries, there’s precious little art available today … Continue reading
