EmberVoices
My name is Ember Cooke. I serve the Vanir - Freyja, Freyr, and Their kin - as a priestess, minister, teacher, bard, artist, medium, and witch. Or to put it the Heathen way, as a gythia, galdrakona, and seidhkona.
My personal practice is more diverse, as the Vanir have lead me into cross-training, interfaith work, and counseling for the wider Pagan community as needed. My friends and allies may span the world, but it is the Vanir I love as family. -E-

Sometimes Ravens Fly
I have left Hrafnar. It feels a lot like moving the last of my stuff out of my parent’s house. I haven’t lived there in a long time, but I never stopped thinking of it as home. Until I did. … Continue reading

In This Time of Upheaval, Hold Together #SafetyPin
I wish to create safer space. If you too wish to create safer space, wear a simple, unadorned #SafetyPin on your person. Mine is pinned to my purse so that it is always with me wherever I go. –Ember–

A Skald’s Ears
A skald is given an agile tongue, to sing stories for the entertainment and education of all, this you know. A skald is also given ears, to listen, or where will the stories come from? When a person raises their … Continue reading

Walking with Freyja: On Having It Together
Yesterday I visited the park and grounds around the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum. It’s been a very long time, and I had not remembered just how many little esoterically-saturated spaces they had designed there, which are open to the public every … Continue reading

Rev. Gina Pond and Sarah Thompson #ShowMeGoddess
Beautiful new pictures of Rev. Gina Pond as an alternative depiction of a Goddess (which one? We’re not sure yet!) taken by her wife Sarah Thompson: If this isn’t right up the #ShowMeFreyja alley, I don’t know what is! –Ember–

What Frith Isn’t – A Rambling Rant
Frith is not just etiquette. It’s not about saying what people want to hear so they don’t get upset. It’s not about avoiding making too much noise. It’s not about keeping your head down and going along to get along. … Continue reading
