When I was making the batch of Nine Worlds Prayer Necklaces for sale the other day, the very last necklace I made was a special one:
Lapis Lazuli and Blue Labradorite for Allfather Odin!
Although the Labradorite is only c-grade cuttings, making it more accessible, and charmingly imperfect, these materials are still much more expensive than those in the other necklaces. I chose the very best of my remaining marker beads to go with them, to honor the strength of Odin’s wisdom gathered from wandering the Nine Worlds.
This necklace is absolutely gorgeous, and I’m tempted to keep it for myself, but I know it’s not really for me. Only I couldn’t bring myself to charge the full $99 that seemed the appropriate number for a necklace for the Allfather when the other necklaces are mostly $60.
“Give it away.”
The impulse was very strong, and it was clear Who was prodding me. I had been thinking that it was lovely how Beth and Nono have been doing giveaways sometimes, and I really like doing that sort of thing myself.
Still, charge nothing at all during a fundraiser because I can’t decide on a proper price? That doesn’t seem right somehow.
“Once you have enough for the trip, you won’t need it for a fundraiser anymore. Give it away to celebrate in My honor.”
Ah! Yay! I like this answer! I get to be generous without hurting myself. Everybody else has a reason to share it round even if they can’t afford to buy any of my stuff right now. Odin gets a moment in the spotlight. Everybody wins!
So here’s the deal: When I have raised enough money to fund my trip, I will make another post announcing the giveaway open, and anyone who is interested in winning this necklace dedicated to Allfather Odin is welcome to add their name by replying to that post.
